Since high school, I graduated Southwestern Oklahoma State University (Southwestern State College back then) with a double major (BS) in Business Administration and Accounting. On June 7, 1970 I married Jean Marie Bailey. While I was in college, Jean worked for a medical doctor in Weatherford.
After I graduated from college we bought our first farm in 1973 and we started our farming operation. On December 7, 1978, our first daughter, JoRel Da'rie was born. On February 2, 1981, our second daughter, Jordan Lea was born. I coached t-ball when the girls were small and as they grew older we practiced basketball and I graded algebra papers (thanks to Mr. Vogt's good teaching). The girls were both players on State Basketball Championship teams (thanks to Mr. Janzen's influence). JoRel and Jordan also were members of Washita Heights' Academic Team which won it's State Championship during JoRel's freshman year.
In 1982 Jean and I were named Outstanding Young Farmers of Oklahoma (Jean was farming with me and raising JoRel and Jordan). In 1991 we won Grand Champion in the Oklahoma Alfalfa Hay Show.
We now own and rent 1120 acres of wheat and alfalfa. JoRel graduated from Harvard University in 2002 and now is employed with Athena Health at Waltham, Massachusetts.
Jordan graduated from Boston University in 2003 and works at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.
Jean works as an Administrative Assistant/Office Manager for Advanced HomeCare Services in Weatherford. I do most of the farming by myself. We sell our alfalfa hay on our website www.Sallaska-farms.com and have started trucking it to Texas. We thank Jordan for creating and constantly updating our website.
