The year is 1927 in Chicago, Illinois. A daring new world has opened up after years of Victorian reserve. Air travel and "barnstorming" is gaining popularity. A previously unthinkable new "talkie" movie is opening at the Bijou theatre. Prohibition is running full tilt and crime is rampant. Al Caponetti, Italian crime lord, is being investigated in a mob killing. An investigation is probably as far as it will go since Al "owns" the police, the judges, and all the city government.
Tonight is the grand opening of The Black Satin, a dazzling new speakeasy. Darla Titsworthy is the owner and proprietor of The Black Satin as well as Lace and Bows, a gentleman's "club". Every thing is ready and the band begins to play. The girls in the floor show are warming up (as best as they can with so little on). "Killer" Woolery takes his place at the door to meet guests where they must give the secret knock and password in order to enter.
Inside, a conglomerate of Chicago's malefactors, eccentrics and outcasts are converging for an evening of lusty entertainment, bawdiness and inebriation. Be prepared for anything to happen because nothing is predictable ... nothing, that is, except for MURDER!
All mysteries are originally written by Susan Cowan and are
planned to provide a full evening of entertainment. They are period parties starting in 1898 and moving into
the 1960's. Each party has wild characters, bizarre settings and tons of fun. |
